Met 19 projecten schetst het Jaarboek landschapsarchitectuur en stedenbouw 2017 de stand van beide vakgebieden. Rijk geïllustreerd en voorzien van heldere beschrijvingen laat het boek zien hoe de landschapsarchitectuur en de stedenbouw grote thema's aanpakken als klimaatverandering en binnenstedelijke vernieuwing, maar ook nog steeds verantwoordelijk zijn voor aangename en mooie openbare ruimtes.In het jaarboek ook een verslag van de rondrit van de selectiecommissie door Nederland, een achtergrondverhaal over de dringende woningbouwopgave, een interview met stedenbouwkundige Edzo Bindels en een ontluisterende fotoreportage over de verkrotting op het platteland. This Yearbook also contains a report of the selection committee's tour through the Netherlands, an essay on meeting the acute housing needs, an interview with urban designer Edzo Bindels and a disconcerting photo reportage on rural dereliction.

Hoe bouw je extra woningen in de stad zonder dat het onleefbaar wordt? En hoe kan landbouwgebied op een mooie manier bijdragen aan het milieu? Dit zijn twee van de vele actuele vragen die dit jaarboek beantwoordt. In een selectie van 23 voorbeelden uit de praktijk laten landschapsarchitecten en stedenbouwkundigen zien wat hun innovatieve kracht is. Vernieuwende stadsdelen in Rotterdam en Woerden, een wervend skatepark in Amsterdam en een stadslandgoed in Vlissingen bieden inspirerende oplossingen. Ook de nieuwe Coolsingel, de inbedding van een nieuwe provinciale weg in Noord-Brabant, de uitbreiding van een nationale begraafplaats op de Veluwe en het entreeplein van Eindhoven Airport spreken tot de verbeelding. Met de selectie van de Zeeuwse Bosvisie stipt het jaarboek het belang van onderzoek aan. De selectie wordt inhoudelijk verdiept met enkele essays, interviews en een fotoreportage How do you build additional homes in urban areas without adversely affecting liveability? And how can we make agricultural areas a more attractive part of the environment? These are just two of the many topical questions this Yearbook addresses. In a selection of 23 examples from current practice, landscape architects and urban designers demonstrate the power of their creativity. Innovative districts in Rotterdam and Woerden, an inviting skatepark in Amsterdam and an 'urban country estate' in Vlissingen offer inspiring solutions. The new Coolsingel in Rotterdam, the integration of a new main road into the countryside, the expansion of the national memorial cemetery and the forecourt of Eindhoven Airport capture the imagination. And the inclusion of a forest vision for Zeeland in the selection draws attention to the importance of research. Articles, interviews and a photo reportage provide additional analysis and commentary on the selected projects.
